Hearing Care Counselling Program
Providing communication and hearing care support services to enable people with acquired hearing loss to carry out daily living activities independently, safely and with reduced communication difficulties. Priority is given to people 55 years and older.
The Hearing Care Counselling Program in Brockville is planning to offer Hearing Help Classes and Tinnitus Support Groups. Eligible participants are those who are:
- 55 years of age or older,
- experiencing a hearing loss,
- a resident of Lanark, or Leeds and Grenville.

Hearing Help Classes
Offering a supportive group environment for hard of hearing individuals by providing a step by step approach to coping with hearing loss and improving communication skills in social settings. Providing information about the physical and technical aspects of hearing loss.
Tinnitus Support Group
An informal, ongoing gathering to help reduce the impact of tinnitus through strategies for increasing tinnitus tolerance, relaxation techniques, stress management techniques and coping strategies. A safe place to talk, exchange information, and explore and share feelings with others who live with tinnitus.
Information Services
Resource Library
The Brockville Area Office has an assortment of magazines, articles, and pamphlets on subjects related to hearing loss. The public is encouraged to come into the office and select materials. The Kingston Regional Office has an extensive library of books and other written materials, and a library computer that provides access to the CHS website and Internet. Anyone may use the library facilities, but only CHS members have borrowing privileges.
Public Education
Participation in health fairs, displays, workshops and presentations to raise consumer and public awareness of issues related to hearing loss, communication and hearing health care.
