Discussion Group for Adults with Hearing Loss This group is for adults of any age who would like to meet others and share and discuss experiences and challenges related to hearing loss. We sometimes have guest speakers/videos on issues related to hearing loss. We have notetakers at all meetings. The group also organizes social outings. The group meets once a month in the evenings and anyone interested can contact: Hearing Aid Orientation Sessions The first few weeks you try a hearing aid is usually when most questions pop up. We offer monthly 2-hour orientation sessions to answer questions, give information and trouble-shoot. Please call 521-2319 for more information. Lipreading Classes Lipreading can be a very useful aid to communication. Come learn the basics of reading speech on the lips. Lipreading classes on hold until further notice. Tinnitus Information Sessions Do you have a ringing or buzzing or sound in your ears? Ever wondered what caused it? Can it be treated? Come and find out about the latest research & treatments. Sessions available according to client interest.
Please call 521-2319 for more information Communication Training Do you have particular difficulty in communicating with a specific person who is a big part of your life? Your spouse? Your boss? Co-worker, friend, family member, or neighbour? If you would like to significantly improve communication with a particular person, then Communication Training is the way to go! This 2-hour training session is a combination of sensitization and practical communication strategies, including a simulation of hearing loss. Communication training on hold until further notice. Hearing Help Classes For seniors with acquired hearing loss, classes will cover topics such as information on hearing loss, hearing aid use, communication strategies, information on technical devices, an introduction to lipreading and much more. $25 fee for an 8 week class, one class per week.
