CHS Peterborough…Our Youngest Volunteer!

Ayrton Lucyk is a happy, seven year old boy from Orono. He is in grade 2 at St. Francis of Assisi School in Newcastle. In February 2003 he developed an ear infection and subsequently lost the hearing in his right ear. When he was told that he had a permanent hearing loss, Ayrton immediately wanted to know how he could help others who could not hear. After some searching on the Internet, his mother Nancy emailed the office at CHS Peterborough for information. An information package was sent to his mother and Ayrton decided he wanted to pursue fundraising opportunities. He sold raffle tickets for the Frank Meyette Invitational Golf Tournament and Auction held at Keystone Links Golf and Country Club in Peterborough on August 21, 2003. He also worked on the Putting Competition on the day of the tournament. Prior to the golf tournament, Ayrton and his family were featured on Newswatch with CHEX TV Sports Director, Gary Dalliday. His fundraising endeavors to date have amounted to over $600!
