This office came into existence in September 1998 after years of work by 3 local consumer groups. The collaborative efforts of the Hearing Loss Self Help Group, the York Region Parents for Children Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and the York Region Deaf Club, helped to bring services to deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people locally. The Canadian Hearing Society receives financial support from The United Way of York Region, The Ministry of Health and from donations and local fundraising events. |
