Hearing Care Counselling Providing hearing care support services and communication strategies to enable people with acquired hearing loss to live independently, safely and with reduced communication difficulties. Provide assistance with learning to use and maintain a hearing aid and/or other devices provided to those over age 55, their families, community caregivers and other service providers. Speech/lip reading classes are offered through The Hearing Care Counselling Program several times throughout the year. The classes consist of a two hour class held once a week for 8 weeks and are designed to help enhance communication skills. Hearing Aid Services We do not offer a Hearing Aid Program. However, batteries, accessories, information and trouble shooting for your hearing aid are available at our office. Employment Services Provide career counselling, ODSP plans, job search skills training, job lead referrals to help individuals find and maintain employment. Working with employers to ensure workplace accessibility for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing employees. Communication Devices To provide access through reliable and effective devices to ensure access at home, the workplace and public buildings.
CHS is a registered vendor under the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) of the Ministry of Health. ACCESS 2000 Program Aimed at achieving area-wide accessibility for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people in major public facilities and service industries by the year 2000 by encouraging the development of more community accessible hearing-related resources. General Support Services Provide personal counselling, advocacy and referral to deaf, deafened, hard of hearing individuals in need of support. |
