Does this sound familiar?
"My husband gets angry and tells me, 'You only hear what you want to hear."
"I tried my hearing aid for a month but I couldn't get used it. Now it's sitting in a drawer."
Complaints like these are often made by individuals with hearing loss. However, it doesn't have to be this way. Hearing Help Classes are for adults 55 years of age and over with an acquired hearing loss. Participants are encouraged to bring a spouse or a friend (at no charge) so that both can benefit from the classes. You will broaden your knowledge of communication and develop coping skills that will enable you to deal successfully with the challenges of living with hearing loss. You will be taught in a relaxed friendly atomsphere, and you'll also meet others who have similar experiences.
Here are some of the topics that will be covered:
- Intro to Speechreading
- Info on Hearing Loss
- Hearing Aid use and care
- Communication Strategies
- Technical Information on Communication Devices
