Provides personal counselling to deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people who require support and encouragement through difficult times and experiences by utilizing communication strategies to ensure that the service is as accessible and comfortable as possible for the consumer, respecting their preferred mode of communication
Provides services including special assistance; restoration counselling; supportive individual, couple or family counselling; case management; consumer advocacy. For those who need a more in-depth approach such as therapy, the counsellor will work with other resources in the community to arrange the appropriate services for the client.
Provides consultation/education to consumer groups around wellness and healthy lifestyle, and to inform hearing professionals around accessibility and how to work with deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.
The goal is to maintain the independence of our consumers.
By appointment or videoconferencing, CHS provides career counselling, ODSP plans, job search skills training, job lead referrals to help individuals find and maintain employment, working with employers to ensure workplace accessibility for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing employees
ES uses a case management model which establishes a one-to-one relationship between the ES Counsellor and the consumer

Clients throughout the north have been able to access the services offered through our outreach programs. New and diversified consumers are seen regularly though travel to communities in our catchment area. Services from North Bay are provided to the Regions of Muskoka, Nipissing, Parry Sound, and Timiskaming (North to Kirkland Lake, South to Parry Sound, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville; West to Warren; and East to Mattawa, Temiskaming).
Providing a booking service to access professional American Sign Language (ASL) and Langue de signe québécoise (LSQ) interpreters in the following types of settings: medical, legal, employment, social services, or personal business.
Providing a booking service to access an intervenor who provides access to information by a variety of communication methods acting as sighted guides, which will allow each individual to achieve an optimal level of independence. The intervenor will also teach daily copying living skills and advocate for Deaf-Blind individuals.

CHS is a registered vendor under the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) throught the Ministry of Health.
Speech/lip reading classes are offered several times throughout the year. Classes consist of a two hour class held once a week for eight weeks and are designed to help enhance communication skills. The course offers a supportive group environment for hard of hearing individuals by providing a step by step approach to coping with hearing loss and improving communication skills in business and social settings. Provides information about the physical and technical aspects of hearing loss.
May is ‘Hearing Awareness’ month and every year CHS hosts a variety of events to increase awareness about hearing loss, services offered and accessibility.
