General Support Services
- Provides specialized, accessible, supportive social services for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing consumers, age 16 and over, who are unable to access community resources and have a range of needs for assistance in order to be able to live successfully and independently in the community.
- Provides services including special assistance; restoration counselling; supportive individual, couple or family counselling; case management; mental health services; consumer advocacy; networking and referral.
- Provides consultation/education to consumer groups around wellness and healthy lifestyle, and to mainstream hearing professionals around accessibility and how to work with our specialized consumer groups.
- Staff of the program are deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and hearing. Staff have sign language skills, use interpreters and computerized notetakers and a variety of technical devices and communication strategies to ensure that the service is as accessible and comfortable as possible for the client, respecting the clients preferred mode of communication.
