Videoconferencing is a technology that improves and extends the service delivery of CHS's services and programs. In a vast area such as Ontario, videoconferencing connects consumers to services that are either locally non-existent or difficult to access. CHS consumers have access to more OIS interpreters through videoconferencing on the Internet: When interpreters are not available in one location, interpreting services can be acquired from other locations with the help of videoconferencing.
CHS Consumers also have access to CONNECT, Employment Services, General Support Services in locations where these services are not readily available. Videoconferencing allows scarce resources to be shared more effectively among our consumers.
CHS has 28 offices throughout Ontario. Each of these offices is now equipped with videoconferencing equipment made possible through funds from The Ontario Trillium Foundation.
CHS extends its thanks to Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, CANARIE Inc., FedNor, and Human Resources Skills Development for supporting this and other pioneering Internet projects.
